Secure IIoT Solutions
Within the framework of the SHELL project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and
Research (BMBF), we are developing an integrated management system with our partners to better protect IIoT devices in critical infrastructures from cyberattacks.
Areas of application include highly networked systems such as modern automobiles, industrial IoT devices, and critical infrastructures – anywhere manipulation, sabotage, or complex cyberattacks must be prevented.

The Challenge
Industrial companies must consolidate and utilize ever-increasing volumes of data from disparate systems. Information from development, process planning, the shop floor, control, and management is often isolated, non-standardized, and difficult to link.

Industry Standards
Standards enable vendor-neutral solution components and prevent vendor lock-in. Often, standards only cover a portion of the solution space – examples include:
- Asset Administration Shell (AAS) for data from the production process (e.g., digital product passport)
- ASAM ODS (Open Data Services) standard from the automotive industry for development data

(ℹ️ COP = Conformity Of Production – testing of series products for legal requirements)
The combination of both standards links data across the entire product lifecycle.
